The Federated States of Micronesia is located in the Northwestern Pacific Ocean. The country is consists of 600 islands. However, Scuba diving is concentrated primarily on three of these islands. Here biodiversity is truly enormous. As a result, over 1,500 species of fish and 700 species of coral exist. Besides outstanding scuba diving, the country offers palm-shaded beaches, ancient ruins, WWII artifacts, sunken basalt temples, caves and cultural meeting houses.

DIVING MICRONESIA

Palau is at the western edge of the Pacific. It offers much in the way of marine diversity for divers and snorkelers at all levels. Accordingly, you'll find myriad dive experiences. In particular, big pelagic encounters, tranquil coral gardens, current-swept drop-offs, and a collection of World War II wrecks. Excellent visibility means seeing large fish schools, sharks, tuna, giant and blue fin trevally. Blue Corner is Palau's most well-known dive. Also, the Rock Islands are considered among the top underwater wonders. Must dive sites include Ulong Channel for lush reefs and Peleliu Express for pelagic species. Jellyfish Lake is a must to see millions of golden jellyfish migrate daily. Read Palau, Historical World Class Diving Yap State consists of volcanic and coral islands. Its broad fringing reef with several channels means varied marine life. Yap is the world’s foremost destination for seeing manta rays. Furthermore, you may see several manta's hovering around cleaner stations all at one time. However, the island provides macro life, beautiful hard coral gardens, turtles and sharks. Divers quickly become familiar with Mi'il and Gofnuw channels where most of the big manta action takes place. But there are more than 30 dive sites ringing the island, including reefs, passes and drop-offs.

WRECKS

Chuuk (Truk Lagoon) State is world famous for wreck diving. US Naval air attacks during WWII of Japan's Imperial 4th Fleet provided the shipwrecks. These ghostly wrecks are surprisingly intact and known by name... Shinkoku Maru, Fumitsuki, Fujikawa Maru, Nippo Maru, I-169-Betty Bomber, Jill Torpedo Bomber, Yamagiri Maru, Rio de Janeiro Maru, Amagisan Maru, Sankisan Maru. So, Chuuk literally has the finest collection of wreck dives to be found anywhere. Consequently, wartime items decorate their interiors, while the exteriors are covered in colorful soft corals.
